In a Narconon sauna video, Dr. David Root discusses the
components of this detox program. The sauna is one main step to reduce body
burdens brought on by drugs. This minimizes the chances for a person go to go
back on drugs after the treatment because the sauna helps to minimize physical
drug cravings by cleaning toxins out of the body. One of the other main
components of the sauna is nutrition.
Unfortunately, there is an imbalance when it comes to
addiction. Drugs are easy to become addicted to and difficult to come off of,
which is their purpose. Going to a facility in itself, though a great first
step, is not enough to ward off a drug addiction. In order to get off drugs and
stay off of them, the right mindset
is a primary necessity. Everything fails without the right mindset; going to
the facility will be a waste of money and time. The right mindset encourages
positive choices, and positive choices give positive results. An essential way
to keep up with rehab, to stay on the right track and feel good about doing it, is putting the right things in the body.
The Feeling the Body Goes Through When Quitting Drugs
The biggest problem with overcoming a drug addiction is
that the body goes through is dystopic low when working the chemicals out of
the system, causing the user to feel “bad feelings”. This can come from a
variety of different sources, but the usual response is a desire to feel good.
As the user is still working the drugs out of the system, they may turn back to
the very thing that landed them in rehab just to feel good again. It worked in
the past, right? Do you see the cycle here? Drugs might provide a temporary
euphoria, but the effects will wear off. A proper diet, rich in the things a
body needs – truly needs – will not
only make the user feel good, but will keep
them feeling good. Good things do not include processed chocolates and the
like (sorry). Those may be better than drugs, but they have chemicals processed
through them which will have the same effect, if on a more minor scale. The “good”
things refer to foods necessary to promote a healthy body.
Foods That are Good for the Body
There are several resources, including – on-line sites,
blogs, etcetera – that provide insight on various foods that are good for the
body. According to Prevention.com, eggs top the list as one of the world’s
healthiest foods. Though they have been linked to heart disease and high
cholesterol, with the right moderation eggs are a great source of nutrients
that are otherwise hard to get. Antioxidants in eggs may help prevent cataracts
and choline is found in eggs, which is linked to lower rates of breast cancer.
Those with heart disease and high cholesterol should moderate egg consumption
to a few per week, but a daily egg is very healthy for those without such conditions.
One yolk and two whites per day is a healthy dosage and the most beneficial for
the everyday person.
A great source of calcium and immune-boosting bacteria,
greek yogurt is the second most healthy food. Greek yogurts are high in protein
– twice as much as regular yogurts – and come in various flavors and fat
options (fat-free, low-fat, whole). Along the same lines, fat-free milk is not
only a fat-burner, but a bone booster as well. The vitamin D (also found in
eggs) allows the body to absorb calcium, which promotes a healthy bone
structure. It is best to use dairy in moderation, but a healthy amount (using it
as a substitute for water in oatmeal, or having a glass with breakfast) will
have positive results for the body.
Always a good choice, salmon also tops the list of
healthiest foods. High in vitamin D and an excellent source of omega-3s, salmon
is probably one of the better choices. The nutrients and fatty acids in salmon
have various health benefits, such as preventing heart disease, promoting weight
loss, a boost in stamina, and smooth skin. If losing weight is a goal, the
acids in salmon slow the rate of digestion, keeping a person full for longer
and lowering the amount of calories consumed through the day. Lean beef also
has a high amount of digestion slowing acids, and is also a great source of
iron. As little as one ounce of lean beef per day is enough to aid the body in
absorbing iron from other sources – too little iron can cause anemia. Lean beef
also has zinc and B vitamins, which help the body turn food into energy (a lax
in awareness is a deficiency of B vitamins – no caffeine needed). Grass-fed
beef is even better, as the beef contains none of the pesticides and twice the
amount of brain boosting vitamin E.
There are more healthy foods available that boost morale
and promote a healthy system, but those are the top five. While going through
rehab, putting good things in the body will help curb habits away from drug
dependence. The user does have
options and can take control of their habits. A healthy diet results in a
healthy body. The healthier the body, the better it feels – a feel-good body is
less likely to “need” or even want drugs.
Don’t give up on rehab. Make good, positive choices. Start with the right
mindset and a healthy body. Everything else will fall into place.
