5 Reasons Narconon Sauna Can Benefit Drug Addicts

A drug addicted individual faces many obstacles when they try to quit using drugs.  By the time they enter a treatment program they have seen negative consequences from their use affect their relationships, their finances, they may be facing legal problems, and their bodies and health are suffering.  They will be facing these consequences clean and sober, and will no longer be able to rely on their drug of choice to provide them with temporary comfort to help them get through tough times.  They will also be dealing with uncomfortable withdrawal symptoms, and cravings to use which are two of the most common reasons people who are newly sober relapse.

While the consequences and problems the addict has created in their life will take time to get better, there are certain things that the user can handle directly during their rehabilitation process.  Many addicts and alcoholics neglect themselves physically during their addiction, and this diminished state complicates their recovery.  While most addicts are aware of the changes that drugs cause in their brain, many may overlook the damage that they have done to their physical health, and the nutritional deficiencies that go along with that.

Cravings and withdrawal symptoms by themselves are difficult enough to deal with, but are much worse for an individual whose health is suffering.  Narconon utilizes a sauna detoxification program in an effort to both restore the user's health, and detoxify them completely in order to greatly reduce their drug cravings.

What Narconon Students Say About Narconon Sauna

What better way to describe the Narconon sauna program than to have students (also called clients) of the program discuss and review the sauna treatment process. The following are testimonials from sauna students who completed this program and their individual results:

The Healthiest Foods to Eat During Narconon Sauna Treatment

In a Narconon sauna video, Dr. David Root discusses the components of this detox program. The sauna is one main step to reduce body burdens brought on by drugs. This minimizes the chances for a person go to go back on drugs after the treatment because the sauna helps to minimize physical drug cravings by cleaning toxins out of the body. One of the other main components of the sauna is nutrition.

Unfortunately, there is an imbalance when it comes to addiction. Drugs are easy to become addicted to and difficult to come off of, which is their purpose. Going to a facility in itself, though a great first step, is not enough to ward off a drug addiction. In order to get off drugs and stay off of them, the right mindset is a primary necessity. Everything fails without the right mindset; going to the facility will be a waste of money and time. The right mindset encourages positive choices, and positive choices give positive results. An essential way to keep up with rehab, to stay on the right track and feel good about doing it, is putting the right things in the body.

What Should I Expect from Narconon Sauna

The Narconon drug rehab program was originally developed in 1966 by an inmate of an Arizona state prison. William Benitez was serving a sentence for a drug-related conviction, and it was not the first time he had been behind bars. In fact, Mr. Benitez had spent most of his adult life as a drug addict, and the majority of this time was spent in jail or prison. One day, he came across a book by American philosopher and writer L. Ron Hubbard. The book was titled The Fundamentals of Thought, and in it Mr. Benitez found the answers he needed to finally overcome his addiction once and for all. Furthermore, he recognized that what he discovered in the pages of Mr. Hubbard’s book could be put to use in helping anyone to recover from addiction. This was the beginning of the Narconon program. Since then, it has expanded to dozens of in-patient treatment centers located across six continents, and it has helped thousands upon thousands of people to salvage lives ruined by addiction. The Narconon program has not, however, remained unchanged since the day when it was first delivered to a group of Mr. Benitez’ fellow inmates in the Arizona prison.

Narconon Sauna Resolved Long-Term Physical Effects of Drugs

How long do drugs stay in the body?

Many people share a common belief that drugs only stay in the body for a short time. The drugs are present during the period when the person is high, and then are thought to rapidly leave the system over the course of the hours and days following use. While it may be true that most of the drugs that a person takes do get flushed out shortly after ingestion, what is not true is that all of the substance leaves the body. The fact is that most drugs are fat-soluble substances. In simple terms, this means that the chemicals in many drugs mix well with fats, including the fatty tissues in the human body. Fat is generally effective in terms of absorbing other substances, which is one of the reasons that it is so widely used in cooking -- it soaks up the flavors of other foods. In the same way, the fat present in the body tends to soak up drugs when they are present in the bloodstream. A common example of a fat-soluble drug is tetrahydrocannabinol, more commonly known as THC. There are several chemicals present in cannabis, but THC is the one that is responsible for getting a pot smoker high. When a person smokes marijuana, a large percentage of the THC passes through the bloodstream to the brain, where it achieves its intoxicating effects on the user. Not all of the drug, however, makes it all the way.

Drug Residues Can Soak into Fatty Tissues

Because THC has low levels of water solubility, it has difficulty staying mixed into the blood. Think of what occurs when you try to mix oil and water. Oil has very low water solubility, so no matter how hard you stir the mixture, the oil will eventually separate back out. As the THC passes through the blood, it has a tendency to separate out of the blood, and it finds a welcoming alternative in the fat that lines the veins. In fact, the fat not only accepts the drug, it also tends to pull it out of the blood like a sponge. Consequently, small amounts of THC or other drugs with high fat-solubility gradually get sucked out of the bloodstream, accumulating in the fatty tissues of the body. This is true no matter how one consumes drugs, whether they are smoked, injected or swallowed in pills. Over time, a person who continues to use drugs will build up considerable accumulations of drug residues in his or her body. Walking around with so much toxic residue has a negative effect on one’s health, particularly when an addict is trying to recover and live a life of sobriety. Relapse is such a common phenomenon that many people in the field addiction treatment consider that relapse is a part of recovery. Factually, these accumulated drug residues are found to be responsible for a large percentage of cases of relapse. When a person goes without food for an extended period, engages in heavy exercise or experiences physical or emotional stress, some of the accumulated fat is dislodged or burned for energy, with the result that the drug residues are released back into the system in small quantities. As a result, the person may experience cravings or even flashbacks that prompt him or her to start using drugs again. In many cases, relapse is not a sign that a person has not recovered emotionally from addiction or that he or she somehow lacks willpower, but rather the person has unwittingly gotten a small dose of drugs and is craving more.

Sauna Detoxification Contributes to the Outstanding Success of Narconon

The residues of past drug use can remain in the body for years, even when the person has quit using drugs and is now living a healthy lifestyle. To flush the body’s tissues clean and get a fresh start, it is necessary to take more sweeping action than simply quitting drugs. One of the things that truly sets the Narconon program apart from other drug rehab programs is the fact that it incorporates a sauna detoxification step. Researched and developed by L. Ron Hubbard, the Narconon sauna detox involves a combination of healthy diet, nutritional supplements, moderate exercise and spending time in a dry heat sauna. This combined approach serves to flush the fatty tissues of the accumulated drug residues, while also supporting the body’s system with the nutrition it needs to remain stable and to restore the cells as they heal from the ravages of addiction. People who are progressing through the sauna detox program commonly experience flashbacks or new trips while the drugs are flushing out of their system. At the end of the process, the fatty tissues have been wiped clean of the drug residues, and the person is far less likely to suffer a relapse after completing rehab. This is one of the reasons that Narconon boasts a success rate that is among the highest in the world.

What Is Narconon Sauna And Why You Should Consider It

One of the biggest complaints about some addiction treatment programs is the outcome after treatment. A percentage of people will attend an inpatient facility for two weeks, thirty days or even longer and relapse back to drugs. As a result addicts think treatment doesn’t work and family members wonder if they’re investment in rehab for a loved one was a bad one.

The truth is that treatment does work and any investment in a life is worthwhile. But what is the missing component with relapse related to addiction?

Experts in the field have studied this for years and the number one reason for relapse is a physical drug craving. What many thought is that when an individual used drugs those substances stayed in the body for 3 days for drugs like methamphetamine, heroin and cocaine and up to a month for marijuana. The real truth is that drugs being lyophilic [fat bonding] substances actually remain with the user for much, much longer.

When someone uses drugs those substances hit the brain causing the initial reaction and then the body will begin to try to get rid of them. They pass through the liver and kidneys. Some of the substances leave through sweat or urine but most of the drug stays in the body sticking in the fatty tissue. No matter if one is underweight or overweight we all have these tissues and drugs can remain in them for 10-20 years or more after use.

If an individual has these substances stored in the fat it is just a matter of time before the body will burn that fat for energy. When this happens a bit of the drug is re-released into the system, travels to the brain the produces what is called the physical drug cravings.

While most rehab programs handle the mental and emotional aspects of addiction, there are not many that treat these cravings. This is why relapse rates are so high after some treatment.

The Narconon Sauna Program Handles Cravings

The Narconon Sauna Program was specifically adopted to handle the physical drug craving process. At Narconon facilities it is called the New Life Detoxification program. This is a very specific treatment method that includes the following:
  • Flushing out toxins by spending intermitted periods in a dry heat sauna. A standard ‘sweating schedule’ would be 10-15 minutes sweating in the sauna with a considerable break of 20 minutes, with a cool down shower and then back again on the same schedule for up to 5 hours a day.
  • Plenty of water to replenish anything lost in sweating.
  • The use of cold pressed oils to trade the good fat for the bad.
  • The ‘Cal-Mag Formula’ which is a Calcium Magnesium drink used for healing and to support the nervous system, joints and muscles.
  • The use of Niacin, also called the educated vitamin. Niacin is essential to nutrition and helps to get rid of toxins as well as accumulated radiation in the human body.
  • Proper nutrition through a specific regimen of vitamins used through the program and a diet rich in not-overcooked vegetables.
  • A specific regimen of exercise that includes 30 minutes of cardio daily.

The end result of the sauna program is that the individual is free from the residuals of past chemicals and drugs and he will have a very clear feeling of overall well-being.

Why To Consider The Narconon Sauna

The primary reasons an individual would consider this form of treatment is because it is the only known treatment that primarily resolves physical drug cravings naturally. The Narconon sauna program does not use any type of replacement or other drugs during the sauna. The focus is on healthy living, nutrition and it can rebuild these elements for those who have led an unhealthy lifestyle because of drugs.

Since adopting this part of the rehabilitation program Narconon has successfully put thousands through the sauna with stellar results. This has also been the case with those patients who fell into the pattern of relapse after treatment that did not use sauna detoxification.
